Free Food Resources Available in Amherst

As approximately 1.1 million Massachusetts residents face suspension of their SNAP benefits, Amherst residents are reminded that multiple local food resources are available throughout 2025.

Residents in need of immediate assistance can contact Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333 for help finding free meals and grocery programs.

Local options include:
• Amherst Survival Center, 138 Sunderland Rd — food pantry, meals, and fresh food (amherstsurvival.org, 413-549-3968 x104)
• Mobile Food Bank, Amherst Survival Center & The Boulders, first Wednesday of each month, 1–2 PM
• Craig’s Doors (UU Society of Amherst), 121 North Pleasant St — community breakfast Wednesdays, 8–10 AM
• Wednesday Market, Bangs Community Center, 70 Boltwood Walk — free produce and baked goods, 10–11:30 AM
• Not Bread Alone, 165 Main St — free hot meals and groceries (413-549-3596)
• First Baptist Church Pantry, 434 N. Pleasant St — Wednesdays, 2–4 PM
