Visitors are caught during an exhilarating moment on The Ripcord at the Amherst Rotary Town Fair on August 2. This thrilling drop tower, a highlight of the fair’s attractions, brings joy and excitement to all who dare to take the plunge.
Food, fun, and community
The Amherst Town Common was buzzing with energy this past weekend as the Amherst Rotary Club hosted its annual Rotary Town Fair from Friday, August 22, through Sunday, August 24. For many residents, it felt like one last celebration before schools opened and college move-ins transform the town into its fall rhythm.
Hundreds of families and friends from Amherst and surrounding towns poured onto the Common, enjoying the carnival rides, midway games, and the unmistakable soundtrack of laughter, music, and the frequent squeals and howls from thrill-seekers, most of them in their teens.
Supporting good works
While the fun was front and center, the fair also had a deeper purpose. The Amherst Rotary Town Fair is the club’s major fundraiser, with proceeds supporting scholarships, grants to local nonprofits, and other community projects.
The Amherst Rotary Club has been in operation since 1942, supporting numerous causes, and the fair is one of the most visible ways residents can help continue the tradition.
