The Belchertown Water District has issued a full ban on non-essential outdoor water use beginning September 3, 2025, until further notice. The restriction applies to all customers on the public water system.
Prohibited activities include lawn watering, irrigation systems, vehicle washing, and filling swimming pools. Residents may continue to water gardens and flower beds by hand-held can only.
This ban is required because recent dry weather has reduced streamflow levels below limits set by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. The ban will remain in place until conditions improve and the District announces it has been lifted.
