Marking the end of summer with Green Street Brew at Kendrick Park

The a cappella group Green Street Brew performs at Kendrick Park in Amherst, MA, on the evening of Wednesday, August 27, 2025.

Green Street Brew was featured as part of the “End of Summer Family‑Fun Days” in Kendrick Park. These were organized by the Amherst Business Improvement District and took place from August 20 and August 27, 2025.

Activities for the day included lawn games beginning at 3 p.m. and live, pop‑up a cappella by the group at 6 p.m.

About Green Street Brew

Green Street Brew has been singing together in the Valley for over 25 years. They’re known for their mix of contemporary pop, standards, and vocal jazz, delivered with what they call “an emphasis on fun.” The group performs at community events across Western Mass and hosts the Local Vocal Chord Bowl, an annual a cappella benefit concert that brings together youth and adult vocal groups from area schools and towns. Proceeds support local school music programs in Amherst and Northampton.

Their recent performances have included songs by the Beatles, Lady Gaga, and Sara Bareilles. They share short clips and full sets online, including recordings from this year’s Chord Bowl, held at Amherst Regional High School in April.

About Kendrick Park

Kendrick Park is a downtown green space in Amherst MA, bordered by East Pleasant, Triangle, and North Pleasant streets. The land was originally made up of multiple residential lots, some of which were acquired in the early 20th century by a trust established through the estate of George Smith Kendrick and his sister Jenny S. Kendrick.

Over the decades, homes on the land were either demolished or moved, including the historic Chapin-Ward House, which was relocated in 2000, to make way for a public park.

Today, Kendrick Park is a flexible gathering spot with lawns, walking paths, benches, and a well-used playground installed in 2021. The park hosts concerts, festivals, and community events throughout the year.

It’s also a regular site for food trucks and the Amherst Mobile Market.

Benches and shady lawns make it a casual stop for residents, students, and visitors enjoying the downtown area. You may even spot a hammock or two slung between trees during the warmer months.
