The UMass Fine Arts Center opens its 50th anniversary season with the world premiere of Afro!, a new commission by Wynton Marsalis, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will perform alongside vocalist Shenel Johns and djembe virtuoso Weedie Braimah, exploring jazz’s African roots.

This is the first live performance of Afro!, which will also debut at Lincoln Center on September 18.
