Chris Rollins and a barista behind the counter at West Street Coffee & Tea in South Amherst.
Chris Rollins, a South Amherst resident, opened West Street Coffee & Tea in October 2024 to address the community’s need for a local coffee spot between Atkins Corner and downtown Amherst.
The café offers a welcoming atmosphere with cozy seating, bookshelves, and a dedicated workspace for customers.
Located at 450 West Street, the café serves Fogbuster Coffee Works brews, a selection of teas, and pastries from Lemon Bakery. The menu also includes light fare like grilled cheese and avocado toast, with plans to expand offerings over time.
Fogbuster Coffee Works is based in Greenfield, MA, and was founded by brothers Sean and Darren Pierce in 1994. They use air roasting technology to separate chaff from high-grade green beans, producing an even roast with a clean finish. One of their points of pride is that they craft small batches using USDA Organic and Fair Trade certified beans, staying true to their commitment to quality, ethics, and sustainability.
West Street Coffee & Tea operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The café is closed on Sundays.

Just round the corner from them is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants El Comalito. Across the street is the legendary Sibbies Pizza.
And because we’re talking about this area, we have to ask you to check out Global Cuts, the beloved barber shop at 460 West St, which recently celebrated 25 years of business in Amherst.
