Construction on Drainage Pipes for Jones Library & New Utility Lines
The Amherst Fire Department Central Fire Station in downtown Amherst will be temporarily closed from approximately June 1 through June 27, 2026. The closure is due to construction work in the parking lot and in front of the station, involving new drainage pipes for the Jones Library project and new underground utility lines for the station.
Relocation to North Fire Station – 911 Services Unaffected
During the closure, Central Station equipment and personnel, including the administrative office, will be relocated to the North Fire Station. The public can still call 911 for emergencies, and the department’s business office telephone number will remain the same.
