Amherst Town Hall is glowing purple in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, 2026. Purple symbolizes hope and recovery. The Amherst Public Health Department provides resources including naloxone (Narcan) boxes at Town Hall, Bangs Community Center, the Police Department, Jones Library, and Mill River Recreation Area; harm reduction kits distributed through CRESS; and a mini-grant program for community-based prevention and recovery initiatives. All programs are funded by opioid settlement funds.
