Public Forum on Accessible Trails – May 8 (Virtual)

The Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation invites the public to a virtual forum on Thursday, May 8, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM to share experiences with accessible nature trails. This event prioritizes input from people with disabilities, seniors, families with young children, and others who face mobility challenges.

Why It Matters:
Only 0.5% of Massachusetts trails are fully accessible, despite 36–49% of residents benefiting from them. The forum supports the Trails for All bill (S.548/H.915), which aims to expand equitable outdoor access.

Universal Access (UA) trails feature gentle grades and sturdy surfaces for wheelchairs/strollers. Examples include Mt. Tom’s trails in Easthampton. Learn more: UnpavedTrailsForAll.org.
