The Town of Amherst has been designated a Housing Choice Community by Governor Maura Healey in July 2025. This five-year designation recognizes Amherst’s commitment to supporting housing production and makes the town eligible for exclusive state grant programs.
Amherst is one of 43 communities contributing to 77% of the Commonwealth’s new housing. The designation provides the town with access to Housing Choice grant funding and priority consideration in other state programs.
