Town Manager Paul Bockelman has rescinded the State of Emergency for Amherst as of Sunday, November 9, 2025. The fire at 57 Olympia Drive is contained, and residents may resume regular water use. The apartment building was demolished after becoming structurally unsafe.
No human injuries were reported, though some pets were lost. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An estimated 232 residents, primarily UMass Amherst students, were displaced.
