The Amherst Woman’s Club will host its January book groups on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, with two sessions at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Both groups will discuss Act of Oblivion by Robert Harris, a historical novel about two men involved in the execution of King Charles I who flee across the Atlantic while being pursued.
The daytime group meets at 10:00 AM and the evening group meets at 6:00 PM at the Amherst Woman’s Club. The event is free and open to the public, with advance registration requested.
Part of the novel’s New England storyline is connected to Hadley, Massachusetts, through the historical figures Edward Whalley and William Goffe and the legend of the “Angel of Hadley.”
If Amherst Public Schools announce a snow day, the book groups will not meet.
Register for the daytime group at amherstwomansclub.org/event-6284487 or for the evening group at amherstwomansclub.org/event-6284488.
