BCALA Self-Publishing Literary Awards Open

The Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA) is accepting submissions for its Self-Publishing Literary Awards. The awards recognize outstanding self-published ebooks in fiction and poetry that explore the cultural, historical, and sociopolitical aspects of the Black Diaspora. The winner in each genre will receive a $2,500 prize, recognition at the American Library Association conference, and a BCALA Literary Award Seal.

The contest is free to enter and open to self-published African American authors in the U.S. Submissions are accepted in PDF or ePUB format until February 28, 2026. For submission guidelines and to enter, visit BCALA ebook contest.
