Writers Reading: Poetry Event at UMass Downtown

UMass Downtown (108 N Pleasant St) and the Amherst Business Improvement District (BID) host a free poetry reading on Thursday, September 11, 2025, 7:00 PM, curated by local poet Michael Mercurio. The event features readings by:

  • J.J. Starr-McClain
  • Kirun Kapur
  • Patrick Donnelly (former Northampton poet laureate and Frost Place program director)

About the Curator:
Michael Mercurio is a Pioneer Valley-based poet, editor, and founder of the What The Universe Is virtual reading series. He also serves on the planning committee for the Tell It Slant Poetry Festival at the Emily Dickinson Museum.

Series Background:
Writers Reading is a curated series highlighting local authors, presented in partnership with the Amherst BID to support downtown cultural vibrancy.
