Due to Level 1 Mild Drought conditions in the Connecticut River Valley, Amherst enacts mandatory outdoor water restrictions per state requirements:
Watering Schedule:
- Even-numbered homes: Tuesdays, 5 PM–9 AM
- Odd-numbered homes: Thursdays, 5 PM–9 AM
Allowed Anytime:
- Hand-watering flower gardens (cans/handheld hoses)
- Drip irrigation
- Vegetable gardens, livestock, public safety uses
Prohibited:
- Lawn sprinklers/automatic irrigation (except on assigned days)
- Car washing (except commercial)
- Power-washing surfaces
Conservation Tips:
- Fix leaks (major source of waste!)
- Use rain barrels
- Minimize lawn watering
