The 5th Annual Juneteenth Legacy Celebration will take place Saturday, June 14, 2025, at locations across downtown Amherst. This free, all-day event honors Black history and culture through music, spoken word, and community activities.
Full Schedule:
- 10:30 AM: Open House at Ancestral Bridges (29A Cottage St)
- Meet descendants and explore Amherst’s newest cultural space
- 11:30 AM: Civil War Tribute at West Cemetery (Triangle St)
- Honor Black and Afro Indigenous soldiers of the 54th Regiment and 5th Cavalry
- 12:30 PM: Poetic Lunch at Emily Dickinson Museum
- Readings by Mel Arthur and Nathan McClain
- 2:30–4:00 PM: Jazz Roots of Amherst at UMass Downtown (108 N Pleasant St)
- Live sets with Chuck Langford at 2:30, 3:00, and 3:30 PM
- All day: Family-friendly activities by Jones Library
Free transportation from Amherst Regional High School is available at 10 AM for those with limited mobility.
Sunday, June 15: Special 10:00 AM service at Hope Community Church.
