Juneteenth Legacy Celebration in Downtown Amherst

The 5th Annual Juneteenth Legacy Celebration will take place Saturday, June 14, 2025, at locations across downtown Amherst. This free, all-day event honors Black history and culture through music, spoken word, and community activities.

Full Schedule:

  • 10:30 AM: Open House at Ancestral Bridges (29A Cottage St)
    • Meet descendants and explore Amherst’s newest cultural space
  • 11:30 AMCivil War Tribute at West Cemetery (Triangle St)
    • Honor Black and Afro Indigenous soldiers of the 54th Regiment and 5th Cavalry
  • 12:30 PMPoetic Lunch at Emily Dickinson Museum
    • Readings by Mel Arthur and Nathan McClain
  • 2:30–4:00 PMJazz Roots of Amherst at UMass Downtown (108 N Pleasant St)
  • All day: Family-friendly activities by Jones Library

Free transportation from Amherst Regional High School is available at 10 AM for those with limited mobility.

Sunday, June 15: Special 10:00 AM service at Hope Community Church.
