Expect Increased Traffic and Activity on Campus and Downtown
Several colleges in Amherst will hold commencement ceremonies over the coming weeks. Residents and visitors should plan for extra traffic, limited parking, and busy downtown areas on these dates:
- UMass Amherst: Friday, May 15 – Sunday, May 17, 2026
- Hampshire College: Saturday, May 16, 2026
- Amherst College: Saturday, May 23, 2026

Hampshire College has announced it will permanently close after the Fall 2026 semester.
