Amherst Ballet will present “Working to Transcend,” featuring choreography to works by composers Rebecca Clarke and Florence Price, at three locations:
- May 30, 2025, 7 PM: Full performance with live music at Wesley United Methodist Church (98 N Maple St, Hadley)
- May 31, 2025, 2 PM: Abbreviated outdoor show on Amherst Common (bring blankets; no rain date)
- June 1, 2025, 7 PM: Full performance at 33 Hawley St, Northampton
The program highlights Clarke’s 1919 Viola Sonata and Price’s 1936 Piano Quintet, performed by local professional musicians. Price was the first Black woman composer to have a symphony performed by a major orchestra.
Free admission (suggested $20 donation). Get tickets for May 30.
