A free lecture, “Love and Loss After Wounded Knee,” will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Dr. Julie Dobrow will discuss the interracial union between Charles Eastman (a Dakota physician and writer) and Elaine Goodale (a poet and educator), forged after the 1890 Wounded Knee massacre, and their joint advocacy for Native American rights. The event will take place at the Bangs Community Center, 70 Boltwood Walk, Amherst.

Dr. Julie Dobrow is a professor at Tufts University and director of the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, with faculty appointments in child study, film, civic studies, and public health.
