The UMass Amherst Libraries will host “Indigenous Archival Activism: Mohican Interventions in Public History and Memory” on September 25, 2025, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Amherst College, Keefe Campus Center, Friedmann Room. The event is free and open to the public with registration required.
Dr. Rose Miron, Vice President for Research and Education at the Newberry Library, will present her book Indigenous Archival Activism and discuss her work with the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. The talk highlights how tribal archives shape the representation and preservation of Native history.
Following the presentation, Sabra Thorner, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Mount Holyoke College, will moderate a panel with Miron and Christine DeLucia, Associate Professor of History at Williams College. A Q&A session will conclude the program.
