The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) will host its second Historic Children’s Voices K-12 Teacher Institute this August. The five-day program is designed for social studies and language arts educators and features hands-on workshops using early American children’s books and writings from the colonial period through the 19th century. Participating teachers will receive a $500 stipend, a $1,000 travel allowance, and lodging and some meals. The lead instructor is Karen Sánchez-Eppler, Professor of American Studies and English at Amherst College; the teacher facilitator is Allison Bass-Ricco of Cheshire Academy.
