Learn About Beavers – All Ages Welcome
The Town of Belchertown and the Belchertown Recreation Department invite the community to “Leave It to Beavers,” a fun, all-ages afternoon on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The event begins at the Recreation Department (66 State Street) with a presentation by The Beaver Institute. Then, the group will walk to the Lake Wallace spillway at Foley Field (about a third of a mile) to see a “beaver deceiver” flow device in action. A lakeside table with pond critters will be set up for hands-on exploration.
Coexisting with Beavers – Flood Control & Habitat Biodiversity
Beavers play a vital role in flood control, water retention, and habitat biodiversity. The event is made possible through Massachusetts Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Program funding for the culvert replacement project on Warren Wright Road over Hop Brook. Running late? Head directly to Foley Field to join the walk.
