Former EconoLodge at 329 Russell Street Transformed into Affordable Housing
Valley Community Development has begun renovation work on Russell Crossing, converting the former EconoLodge at 329 Russell Street (Route 9) in Hadley into 50 new affordable apartments. The $16.3 million project includes 39 studio and 12 one-bedroom apartments with kitchens. The development targets workforce housing for low-income individuals, with dedicated units for people transitioning out of homelessness. Renovations began in August 2026, with completion expected in spring 2027.
