Birding Field Trip: Hadley Dikes and Connecticut River Shoreline

Naturalist Bill Randolph will lead a guided birding field trip on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Alexandra Dawson Conservation Area in Hadley. This walk is part of a 12-part monthly birding series exploring seasonal changes in bird communities along the Connecticut River.

Participants will walk 1 to 2 miles on mostly level but uneven terrain. Expect chilly or windy weather and potentially muddy trails. Sturdy footwear is recommended. Birds of interest include bald eagles, peregrine falcons, and various breeding songbirds. The site has no restrooms or facilities.

Meet at the dirt parking lot next to the Connecticut River dike on North Lane, between West Street and Route 47 in Hadley. The event is free, but registration is required and space is limited to 12 participants.
