Black History Month unsung civil rights heroes program

Unsung Heroes of Civil Rights Program via Zoom

The Jones Library will host a virtual Black History Month program highlighting lesser-known figures of the American Civil Rights Movement on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM via Zoom. The presentation focuses on leaders such as Nannie Helen Burroughs, Pauli Murray, Ella Baker, and Claudette Colvin, and is open to community members interested in civil rights history and education. The event offers an opportunity to learn about contributions that shaped the fight for equality and expands public understanding of the movement beyond its most widely recognized figures.

The program is organized as part of the Jones Library’s Black History Month programming and is supported by the Friends of the Jones Libraries, which help fund educational and cultural events for the community.
