The Jones Library’s 14th annual “On the Same Page” community reading program features the book Beaverland: How One Weird Rodent Made America by Leila Philip. The entire Amherst community is invited to participate in a series of free events exploring the book’s themes. It is encouraged but not necessary to have read the book.
Schedule of Events:
- Thursday, March 19, 7:00 PM: “Beaver Tales: Native Traditions & Colonial Relations” – A talk by Dr. Margaret M. Bruchac at the North Amherst Library.
- Saturday, March 21, 10:00 AM: Beaver StoryWalk & Family Program (ages 1-6 with caregivers) at Wentworth Farm Conservation Area.
- Monday, March 23, 6:00 PM: Screening of the documentary “Beaver Family Life” with filmmaker Ray Asselin at the Hitchcock Center.
- Wednesday, March 25, 7:00 PM: An evening with author Leila Philip, reading and discussion at Munson Memorial Library.
