Amherst Cinema will screen “Powwow People,” a vérité-style documentary directed by Sky Hopinka (Ho-Chunk Nation/Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians), on April 9, 2026. The film, structured around a single day, follows four central figures at a powwow organized by the filmmakers. It culminates in a 30-minute unbroken shot of a Northern Traditional dance. Director Sky Hopinka will join for a post-film discussion. The screening is free for Amherst Cinema members.
