Tibetan Buddhist monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery will create an intricate sand mandala at the UMass Old Chapel from Monday, April 6, through Friday, April 10, 2026. The week includes:
- Opening Ceremony: April 6, 12:00 PM
- Viewing Hours: April 6, 7, 9 from 1-7 PM; April 8 from 9 AM-6 PM
- Lecture: “Why Do We Need Each Other?” by Gonsa Rinpoche on April 8 at 4:00 PM
- Closing Ceremony: April 10, 12:00 PM (sand is swept up and released into water)
Visitors may observe the mandala’s creation and contribute to a community mandala. All events are free and open to the public.
