Spotted Lanternfly Egg Masses Hatching in Belchertown

What to Look For & How to Stop the Spread

Spotted lanternfly egg masses have begun hatching in Belchertown. Egg masses appear as rows of small brownish blobs or a smear of mud on trees, fences, outdoor furniture, vehicles, and other surfaces. If you find egg masses, scrape them off and crush the eggs before they hatch. This helps slow the spread of this invasive pest.

Report Sightings to MDAR

If you see a spotted lanternfly at any life stage, take a photo, note the location, and report it online at mass.gov/spottedlanternfly. Every sighting helps the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) track the spread. An interactive SLF map showing hatching timeline and infestation status is available on MDAR’s website.
