Memoir of Intergenerational Trauma & Healing
Author and former publisher of the Detroit Jewish News, Arthur Myron Horwitz, will discuss his memoir, Dual Identities: Living in Meier’s Shadow, on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 2:00 PM. The talk will take place in person at the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst and online via Zoom. Horwitz shares how discovering a Holocaust image of a boy in his mother’s wallet – whom she identified as her murdered brother Meier – became a burden that shaped his life, family, and media career. The book explores intergenerational trauma and paths to coping, healing, reconciliation, and remembrance.
