Honoring Youth Heroes & Celebrating Interracial Friendship
The Town of Amherst Human Rights Commission will host the annual Youth Hero Awards in conjunction with Race Amity Day on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mill River Recreation Area, 95 Montague Road, Amherst. The event will feature a proclamation from Town Council, performances from local groups, and recognition of this year’s Youth Heroes.
Free Lunch – All Community Members Invited
A free lunch will be provided. Race Amity Day is an annual observance celebrating interracial friendship and the oneness of the human family. Amherst was the first town in Massachusetts to formally recognize this internationally celebrated holiday (established 2015). Sponsors include the Human Rights Commission, DEI Department, CRESS, League of Women Voters of Amherst, and the Amherst Baha’i Community.
