Straw Dog Writers Guild hosts Writers Night Out on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, 6:00–8:00 PM at Forbes Library (Coolidge Museum, 20 West St, Northampton). The event features:
- Open Mic: Sign up by 5:50 PM for a chance to read (5-minute slots, 10 readers selected randomly).
- Featured Reader: Astrid Lindstrom, retired English teacher and community volunteer.
- Free admission; masks optional.

Astrid Lindstrom is a retired public school English teacher who championed student writing through literary magazines, memoir projects, and conferences. A violinist with the Five College Early Music program, she also volunteers with therapy dog Jonah at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and local schools. Raised in Gambier, Ohio, by a mathematician and librarian, she holds English degrees from Mount Holyoke College and the University of Virginia. She lives in Northampton, where she and her late wife, psychotherapist Cece, raised four children.
