The Amherst Recreation Department is organizing community support for Alia, a young Amherst resident currently receiving treatment for Leukemia in 2025. Alia is known to many as a regular supporter of her brother Amauri at Suburban basketball games.
Her family has long been part of Amherst programs: Officer Chrys serves with the UMass Amherst Police Department, mentors at Morning Movement, and coaches basketball, while Jessika is a former Amherst Recreation staff member. Their children have been active in local activities for years.
