Author Julie Dobrow will discuss her new book, Love and Loss After Wounded Knee: A Biography Of An Extraordinary Interracial Marriage, in an online talk on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The book chronicles the marriage of Elaine Goodale and Dr. Charles Alexander Eastman (Ohíye S’a), a Santee Sioux physician, which began in the aftermath of the Wounded Knee Massacre. The couple later resided in Amherst. Dobrow is a professor and director at Tufts University.
