Odyssey Bookshop in South Hadley will host author Hester Kaplan on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 7 PM for a discussion of her new memoir, Twice Born: Finding My Father in the Margins of Biography. She will be joined in conversation by author Celia Jeffries. The event is free and open to the public.
Twice Born explores Kaplan’s relationship with her father, the acclaimed biographer Justin Kaplan, and examines the complex intersections between family, memory, and artistic identity. Through reflective storytelling, Kaplan offers a personal and literary portrait of twentieth-century intellectual life.
Hester Kaplan is the author of The Edge of Marriage, winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, and other acclaimed works. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in The Best American Short Stories series and major literary journals. Celia Jeffries, author of the award-winning novel Blue Desert, will join the discussion.
