About The Nields

The Nields are a folk-rock band from Western Massachusetts known for their tight harmonies, socially conscious lyrics, and engaging live performances. Fronted by sisters Nerissa and Katryna Nields, the group emerged in the early 1990s, blending folk, pop, and rock influences into a sound that resonated with fans of both singer-songwriter storytelling and energetic folk revival music.

Their early albums, including Gotta Get Over Greta (1996) and Play (1998), earned them a national following, while their grassroots approach to touring and independent music-making solidified their reputation as mainstays of the folk circuit.

Over the years, The Nields have evolved from a full band to a duo act centered on the sisters’ harmonies and songwriting.

They have continued to release music, with albums like XVII (2015) and November (2019) showcasing their signature blend of introspection, activism, and humor.

Beyond performing, Nerissa and Katryna are deeply involved in arts education, leading songwriting workshops and working with young musicians in Western Massachusetts.

Their commitment to community, storytelling, and musical innovation keeps them a beloved fixture in the regional and national folk scene.
