The novel blends a family narrative, a story of sisterhood, a period coming-of-age account, and a murder mystery while exploring history, language, trauma, and identity.
Nina McConigley is the author of Cowboys and East Indians, which won the PEN Open Book Award and the High Plains Book Award. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, High Country News, and other national publications.
