Free Public Talk with PhD Candidate Genny Dorgan
UMass Downtown and the Graduate School launch the Summer Seminar Series on Wednesday, June 17, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at 108 North Pleasant Street, Amherst. The kickoff seminar features Genny Dorgan, PhD candidate in Comparative Literature, presenting “A Female Voice in Medieval Academia: Mechthild of Magdeburg and Her Editors.” Dorgan will explain how medieval universities produced knowledge and discuss the rare case of a 13th-century German mystic who became an accepted source of theological authority.
