Odyssey Bookshop will host an author event on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM featuring Mariah Rigg. Rigg will present her new collection of short stories, Extinction Capital of the World. The reading and discussion will focus on the themes of the book, which explores contemporary life in Hawai‘i through interconnected stories addressing family, queer love, community, colonization, and environmental change. The event is open to the public and may be of interest to readers of contemporary fiction, students, and members of the local literary community.
Mariah Rigg was born and raised on the island of O‘ahu. Her work has appeared in several literary publications, and she was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in creative writing in 2024.
