Garcia Brings 20+ Years in Education, Community Engagement & Human Services
Town Manager Paul Bockelman has announced the appointment of Daniel Garcia as the new Director of Senior Services, effective July 20, 2026. Garcia currently serves as Program Manager for Amherst’s CRESS Department and brings over two decades of experience in higher education leadership and community engagement. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration and is pursuing a Doctor of Education degree.
Focus on Expanding Programming, Reducing Isolation & Strengthening Partnerships
Garcia’s priorities include expanding programming for active and younger seniors, strengthening partnerships with the Council on Aging, Friends of the Senior Center, and Amherst Neighbors, addressing food insecurity, improving transportation options, and reducing social isolation among older adults. A swearing-in ceremony and reception will be scheduled at a later date.
