The Amherst Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed Katie Streater as its new Marketing & Communications Manager, bringing a background in national destination marketing and a track record of delivering results on ambitious projects.
Streater comes to Amherst from Brand USA, the nation’s destination marketing organization, where she served as a senior coordinator on the Global Trade Development team, focusing on the Canadian and Latin American markets.
During her time there, she was the project lead on a six-city road show across Canada promoting the US as a premier outdoor destination. The campaign trained 400 Canadian travel agents in Brand USA resources and came in at 60% of the allocated budget.
That work earned her a spot on Destinations International’s 2024 30 Under 30 list, a recognition that highlights emerging leaders in the travel and tourism industry.
Most recently, Streater managed partnerships at FRESHFARM, a farmers market nonprofit operating at the intersection of food, community, and place. She holds a Master of Tourism Administration from The George Washington University.
“I’m thrilled to join the Amherst Business Improvement District and contribute to such a dynamic downtown community,” Streater said in a statement released by the BID. “I look forward to working alongside local businesses and partners to celebrate Amherst’s unique character and to create welcoming, engaging experiences for residents and visitors alike.”
Streater succeeds Robert Allingham, who departed in January to join Bigelow Tea in Fairfield, Connecticut, following his wife Christina, a food scientist from UMass Amherst, to the company.
Allingham was recognized as the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce MVP at last year’s A+ Awards.
