Amherst Seeks Volunteers for DPW Building Committee

The Town of Amherst is forming a Department of Public Works Building Committee (DPWBC) to oversee the design and construction of a new DPW facility at 586 South Pleasant Street. The current building, dating back to 1915, no longer meets operational or safety needs.

Committee Role:

  • Advise on design, timeline, and major project decisions
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and town officials
  • Submit quarterly progress reports

Member Qualifications:

  • 3 resident seats (appointed by Town Manager)
  • Preferred expertise: architecture, engineering, construction, facilities management, or finance
  • Term: 5–7 years (project duration)
