The Town of Amherst, the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Amherst Business Improvement District will hold the annual Lighting of the Merry Maple on December 5, 2025, from 3–6 PM on the North Common. Activities include an open house at the Fire Station, crafts and games with Amherst Recreation, crafts and storytime with the Jones Library, horse-drawn carriage rides, and performances throughout downtown.
The Amherst Police Department will collect unwrapped gift donations for local organizations. The tree lighting countdown is scheduled for 5:00 PM.
